THE RIVER
Synopsis
A retired Nile boatman returns to the water he once worked for forty years, only to find a country he no longer recognises on either bank.
Shot over four months on a working dahabiya between Aswan and Cairo, The River is a film about a country told entirely from its water — a story of restoration, mourning, and the particular Egyptian patience that has outlasted every regime to govern it.
The production employed a crew of fourteen and worked exclusively in natural light. Every interior was shot aboard the boat itself.
